Citigroup axed 4 percent of its work force today, putting 11,000 families into turmoil in the middle of the holiday season. Here’s the exact wording of a news release from the inhuman banksters, as reporter by The Atlantic:
Citigroup today announced a series of repositioning actions that will further reduce expenses and improve efficiency across the company while maintaining Citi’s unique capabilities to serve clients, especially in the emerging markets. These actions will result in increased business efficiency, streamlined operations and an optimized consumer footprint across geographies.
My favorite part: The “optimized consumer footprint.” It’s shaped like little people.
This is what happens when money is considered more important than people. You get non-people writing about people as if they’re also not people. In the world of Citigroup, where words have so little meaning they no longer have to be spelled correctly and press releases resemble Mad Libs from The Onion, people represent mere expenses, impeding efficiency, and representing bloat.
