Corollary I: The logical extension of this is politicians. Notice how congresspeople and presidents never even have to carry their own laptops. It’s because they literally do nothing (outside of campaigning, which cannot be called honest work). Looking the Part

Corollary I: The logical extension of this is politicians. Notice how congresspeople and presidents never even have to carry their own laptops. It’s because they literally do nothing (outside of campaigning, which cannot be called honest work).

Corollary II: We freelancers are the ones who are most suspicious, which is why we’re freelancers, after all. We don’t fit well in a cubicle jungle with all our mistrust of authority figures.

Expect Less

Sometimes I have a love-hate relationship with my Seth Godin books. He is THE BEST at motivating and inspiring me, and yet reading him causes great frustration to well up within me because regular life and responsibilities and bills and concerns about my family make me think he’s the equivalent of LeBron James saying, “You can be as good as me at basketball, just embrace your art!” I know that’s oversimplifying and not accounting for other things Godin says. But even that caveat doesn’t fully take away my belief that what he says really is not possible for a lot of people and just makes them feel worse about their situations.

So I’m going for the middle ground!
